This past weekend, I got to work in the kitchen to make and easy and delicious Cuban Sandwich. This is a great game day meal or just something quick on a busy night! The briny flavor of the pickles with the ham and Swiss cheese is such a perfect combo! You'll definitely want to give this one a try.
The Cuban sandwich is also a famous favorite at one of Put In Bay's legendary restaurants. Topsy Turvy formerly known as Wharfside has been a staple location in downtown Put In Bay for a very long time. Well known for the signed dollar bills covering nearly every surface, they are just as well known for their Cuban sandwich and Brandy Alexander frozen cocktails!
Topsy Turvy is located next door to the Boardwalk on the East end of the municipal docks. Topsy Turvy offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as bar seating. It is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. There is a small coffee shop at the front of the building called the Coffee Squall, a great place to grab an iced or hot coffee first thing in the morning! The outdoor patio facing the Bay offers a beautiful waterfront view with the Crew's Nest docks (private club docks) in the marina adjacent to the restaurant. It's so nice to sit and enjoy your meal watching the boats coming and going from the marina. Their Cuban sandwich is served on a soft ciabatta bread, with ham, pulled pork, dill pickles, and grainy mustard. Pressed to toasty perfection! Be sure to give it a try, they also have a full menu of other delicious options, you really can't go wrong with a meal at Topsy Turvy.
Topsy Turvy is also unique in that it is the only bar and restaurant on the island that stays open year-round! So, if you're considering becoming a year-round resident this would be the local hangout!
Give the Cuban Sandwich a try, the recipe and video are shared below. Let me know what you think!
