Spring is fast approaching, and we are getting busier and busier as we prepare for the 2024 boating season, and vacation season! The last two week of February we had a couple of fun events to attend.
The Dock Trash Yacht Club winter boater's party was February 16-18th. Hosted at the Commodore Perry Inn and Suites, and the former Mr. Ed's Bar (now Riverside Cantina) in Port Clinton OH. We kicked off the weekend with an all-out 80's Party on Friday night featuring Billy Morris and the Sunset Strip. The band was amazing, the company was amazing, and who doesn't love a great 80's party! I got up early on Saturday and put together a light breakfast bar with Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's in the Hotel lobby, and The Yellow House Bakery in Port Clinton put together some amazing baked goods for us, they were so delicious, and the service from the team at Yellow House was outstanding I would use them again, and I recommend you check them out! Andy and took some time Saturday to get a walk in and enjoy the area, a quick nap and then we rallied for another night of live music, and fun! Saturday featured The Killer Flamingo's a popular Put-In Bay band. It was a great show, we danced, and had a great time with our boating friends that we miss so much in the winter months! It was also great to see a fantastic turn out from our Lakefront Yacht Club community! This is always a fun event, and this year it did not disappoint, we look forward to next season!
The following weekend in Port Clinton was the Burning Snowman Festival. We did not end up attending this year's event as I was a little under the weather, although we have attended past festivals, and they are a great time! This is a multi-day festival that benefits the local police and fire departments. Always held the last weekend of February this event takes place in multiple locations throughout the area, but the main event is on the Lake Erie Beach in front of Docks Beach House Restaurant, where the event organizers build a large wood and paper snowman on the beach, there are warming stations, and a tent with live music. At sundown the snowman is lit using fireworks, and we watch it burn to the ground as the final farewell to winter! This event includes a family night on Friday night with ice sculptures, crafts, and a mini snowman burning on the beach. Saturday, they have a tap take over with shuttles running from Port Clinton to Catawba Island where you can visit participating bars and restaurants to hear live music and enjoy some great food specials! It is an awesome event, well-coordinated, and growing more every year, here are a few pics that were shared by the event! If you ever get the chance to see this in person, I highly recommend it, it's a great way to break up the winter blahs!
We have some big news coming in March... yes, I know it is March now as I publish this, but I wanted to make it a separate announcement. So, stay tuned for that! We hope everyone is staying happy and healthy this winter season, next up SPRING 2024!
