Let The Summer Fun Begin!

It's been a few weeks since our last update, and we have been having lots of fun! We had a low-key weekend at the boat getting a few things ready for a couple of back-to-back weekends entertaining our kids at Put in Bay. We spent some time visiting a couple of our favorite spots in Port Clinton, listened to some live music, and enjoyed time with our friends. We also got things washed down, packed in and ready to travel the following weekend! It was a very nice trip!

Friday June 28th, we headed out in the evening for a bumpy, and somewhat splashy ride to Put in Bay. The weather was ok, not the best, but also not the worst that we have travelled in. It was the best weather window to get the boat over to the Bay for the remaining part of the weekend, and so off we went! Once there we got a great spot, and settled in. Jordon and his friends joined us that weekend, they explored the island, enjoyed some live music, and libations. All in all, it was a lot of fun!

We decided to leave the boat at Put In Bay, to return home for a day or two of work. We took the Jet Express back to Port Clinton with our bikes in tow (they charge an additional $5.25 per bike FYI), biked back to our marina, and headed back to Jackson! We returned on Tuesday night and completed the journey back in reverse! It was a beautiful night on the lake! When we arrived, we settled back in, and headed out for a quick bite to eat, and to enjoy some live music!

The next morning July 3rd, we gave the boat a good washing inside and out and got ready for Brianna and Jake to land on the island for some 22nd birthday fun!

While we waited, Andy and I grabbed some lunch at Topsy Turvey, the Cuban sandwich that they are known for is SO delicious be sure to give it a try if you go! Topsy's is a great breakfast lunch and dinner location, its directly next door to the Boardwalk restaurant, and features a small coffee shop out front called the "Coffee Squall". The decor is notable for the hundreds, maybe thousands of signed dollar bills hanging from almost every surface. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and table facing the marina with gorgeous views! As I mentioned earlier they are known for their Cuban sandwich, and their Brandy Alexander frozen cocktails! Be sure to check them out if your on the island!

We sent the afternoon, provisioning the boat, and then headed out for a nice long bike ride! Brianna and Jake arrived around 530pm, and they were hungry and ready to celebrate! It was Brianna's 22nd birthday so we took them to the Boardwalk Restaurant for dinner, I enjoyed a lobster mac and cheese, Andy got the walleye platter (can't beat the fresh walleye and perch in the area it's the best), Jake had a duck dinner, and Brianna had the plain hamburger she wanted lol! It was all delicious we left very full and headed back to the boat to put away leftovers, we then went out to enjoy some cold beer, and music, we introduced Brianna and Jake to one of our all-time favorite bands, Tobi Lee and Mustang Sally. If you have never seen them, they are fantastic! Well known for playing an amazing rendition of Devil Goes Down to Georgia with one of the most talented fiddle players I have ever seen! Truly awesome talent!

We headed to bed ready to take on the 4th of July! Brianna and Jake kicked off their holiday with a round of golf. The island has a short course, that they said was " a little rough" but a lot of fun. We grabbed lunch and frozen drinks at The Keys, before heading out the Adventure Bay Pool Party! Just before we arrived the sky clouded and although warm out it stayed overcast the entire time we were at the pool lol! But, it didn't stop our good time, we had a few cocktails, and played cornhole, Brianna built a sandcastle lol, and we said hello to some old friends, and made a few new friends! We had a great time!

When we arrived back at the boat our dock neighbors had set up a full karaoke system on the dock right across from us, we watched as strangers walked up to sing, Brianna and Jake took the mic too! We had some pizza while everyone had a great time!

Before we knew it, it was time for the fireworks show! Put In Bay, puts on a fantastic show. They fire off the display from a barge in the Bay, and it can be seen from all over the marina and parks. It was a fun, beautiful night, and it wasn't over yet, we went back out for more music and fun! Dancing to music from the Killer Flamingos at the Roundhouse bar, and ultimately the kids wanted to go back and see more of Tobi Lee and The Mustang Sally Band. We made it back to the boat, tired, and ready for a good rest!

Friday we took our time, grabbed some coffee, packed up and around 1230 or 1pm, we tossed the lines to head back to home port! It was a very nice ride back, the seas were calm, and although a little rain came down, there was almost no wind, we came into dock no problem, and decided to take the kids to Twin Oast Brewery for lunch.

Twin Oast is an amazing place, a craft brewery with a unique atmosphere, and absolutely stunning grounds to explore. We had a great lunch, Brianna and Jake took off to do a little shopping and we headed back to the marina! We spent the evening hanging out with some friends at the yacht club for the evening, but a little partied out we headed back to bed a little earlier than usual.

Saturday meant time to head home! We needed to get back so we could get a passing dish together for the Annual Campbell 4th of July party! We had a great time visiting with our friends, and they put on an amazing fireworks show!

It was a wild, busy, holiday week, and weekend! We were tired, and happy! We had so much fun with everyone! I will be working on the video for this week's adventures and more, so be sure to watch for that, and if you haven't done so yet be sure to like and subscribe to our YouTube channel! www.youtube.com/@navigatenourishnest Thanks for following along!
