May Flowers

And just like that two more weeks have flown on by! So, let's update!

First up I can't pass by an opportunity to brag over one of my kids and this month is NO exception as we prepare to watch Brianna cross the stage to receive her bachelor's degree from the University of Olivet! I will post pictures in the end of month update, but we are so proud of her, and we are so happy to see all of her adult success! Congratulations, Brianna!

The park house continues its glow up! Let's start with updates on ongoing projects.

Flooring: We have now replaced flooring in the two spare bedrooms, the kitchen, den, great room, front entry area, and part of the dining room! It looks amazing! We still have the main floor bathroom and master bedroom/bathroom to complete, but things are moving along nicely. I love how the color of the wood is changing the feel of the room.

I have a new entry floor rug and am making some decisions on large area rugs for the great room, den, and dining room areas. I think I might like something with a little more color. I love this jute rug in a gorgeous terra cotta color for the entry way....turns out it's more pink than terra cotta, but the texture and color are perfect for a high traffic area like this one, and it's a nice little pop of sophisticated color right when you walk in the house! I am really happy with it. I will add product information for everyone at the end of this post!

We bought a bar for the den area on Facebook marketplace. It is a Maitland-Smith piece, in fantastic condition. Complete with brass details and foot rail, it is absolutely perfect for the moodier space that we are starting to put together there. Once we had the bar in place we made some decisions about bar stools and found these comfy additions for the space! Next up for the den we are considering our lighting options, and moving some outlets and cable accesses so that we can get the TVs installed! This room will get painted, but that is looking like it might be more of a later season project, fall or winter, right now I am looking at a darker beige wall color in here, I think it will look amazing!

In addition to the stools for the bar area, we also purchased some seating for at the kitchen island. And these are SO cute! I love the color and velvety material. They are absolutely adorable and fit in perfectly with the feminine feel of this space! The kitchen area rugs are just what we need to bring this space together. We will eventually get the Christmas village put away, lol!

One last purchase this past couple of weeks was a new TV. The great room is a nice big space, and it deserves a nice big TV for entertaining! We purchased this 75" LG smart TV at Target, and they have some great sales going on right now. If you are in the market, be sure to go take a look!

I am now in the process of making final paint decisions for the exterior doors, I have it narrowed down to two colors, and I am leaning towards the brighter "venus teal" blue option, this will really brighten up the front exterior entry so nicely! Making it look fresh and inviting.

As I mentioned before we have had the entire exterior of the house power washed, and what a difference if you live in the Jackson MI area I highly recommend Westfall Power Washing, they were so easy to work with and professional. Top notch service, and outstanding results!

We also started to remove overgrown, damaged, or sick trees and plants in the front yard. We eliminated a lot, and unfortunately, there is still one pretty large tree that I think may need to be removed. But what difference to the front of the house! We will make some decisions on new plantings, install edging, and get everything mulched in beautifully, I am excited to see the front yard exterior landscaping all cleaned up! And it's finally time to start picking out flowers!! Mother's Day did not disappoint, I was gifted the annuals I needed for my new front Landscape pots and a few other things for the gardens that I just couldn't resist, I am so blessed by my family. All in all, it's starting to feel like home. Plenty more to do, but I love seeing it come to life!

As far as boat life goes, well, it's going! We have made one additional trip to the boat since our last update. Eli tagged along, too. We got some more cleaning done, the wind finally calmed down so we could stern the boat in for easier access, and I made my list of things we need to bring down for Memorial weekend, where we intend (weather permitting) to head out for the first time this season to Put-In-Bay! It should be a fun time, with some great friends, and a much-needed break from housework!

So next up will be a big boating weekend update, and maybe a few house updates, we've been a little heavy on the house items lately, so it will be nice to shake things up in the next post! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend, and God Bless those who sacrificed their life for the freedoms that we so easily take for granted. Till next time, thank you for following along.
