Memorial Day Weekend and Other Updates

We recently travelled for Memorial Day weekend and that meant our first long weekend at the boat! We had been looking forward to getting away for a little bit and this weekend did not disappoint! We arrived in Port Clinton on Friday around mid-day, unpacked the car, and then made some quick decisions about whether or not to take the boat over to Put-In-Bay as we had originally planned. However, the more we looked at the weather models the more it became clear that going over would have been great but coming back would have been a bumpy ride with the changes in wind direction and up to 40 mph gusts Sunday into Monday. So, we adjusted our plans and decided to head to Cedar Point to grab a bite to eat, and take a good walk, do some people watching. The weather was gorgeous and being Friday meant the crowds there would be considerably smaller.

Once back to the boat we changed clothes and went made the 1 mile walk to downtown Port Clinton, on what was a beautiful night, for a cocktail and some great music! The new Open Container Bar near the Jet Express is a fantastic addition to the downtown experience with an outdoor venue and live music, we enjoyed the atmosphere very much!

Saturday, we took a bike ride back into downtown Port Clinton, and we walked around the Walleye Festival grounds. This is an annual festival in the Port Clinton community and is very much like a small fair. Complete with various vendors, food trucks, and carnival rides.

Saturday night we hung out with friends and enjoyed a peaceful night.

Sunday, we decided a change of locale was in order, we made a last-minute reservation at the Islander Inn and took the jet express ferry to Put In Bay!

We had a brief heavy rain that caused a power outage in half of the downtown area of Put in Bay, they recovered power quickly and we had a great night, full of live music, and a lot of fun!

We had a bumpy return back on the jet express which just further confirmed that we made the right choice in not taking our own boat over for the weekend. And that was a wrap! We headed back home for a full week of work, and home renovations!

Which brings me to the updates at the Park House! We now have the Flooring finished in the great room, entry, dining room, den, 2 guest rooms, and the kitchen! Whew!! We have some art hung, painted front door, and added some plantings to the front landscape! The projects continue but it is really coming along nicely!

Until next time friends! We have another cruise out to tell you all about! Thanks for following along!
