The Other Side Part 2

Now that we have covered how we started, I’m very excited to show you where we are! Over the winter, we started the process of considering an upgrade to our boat. And by that, I mean replacing it with a larger one, lol! 😄

We set a budget and started looking, telling ourselves that we have to be able to check off a bunch of wish list boxes and stay on budget, if we didn’t find what we wanted then we would keep the Bayliner for another season. It’s really important when making a big purchase like this to have a plan!

It wasn’t long before we found a few options to consider. The first one we looked at was a 1997 Searay 400. And although a very large boat, there were several things about it that just did not work for me. After some discussion about whether we wanted to invest in a project, we decided against it.

The next was a 2002 Rinker 342. After talking with the salesperson, we found out that this boat in particular was not “as pictured” online and needed some work. So right off the bat, we were not having great luck. I did learn, though, that I really liked the deck layout of the Rinker 342 Fiesta Vee. It has a welcoming feel, lots of seating, a big helm seat for two, and a well-appointed wet bar area! The more I looked at it, the more I appreciated how it was laid out!

We found the perfect fit with a dealer in Sandusky, and we made an offer pending inspection and got the ball rolling. A few weeks later and she was ours! "The Other Side" had taken on a new shape. The Rinker 342 Fiesta Vee is 37 ft in overall length, with a beam width of 12 ft. It has two berths a queen-sized aft bed, and king-sized forward berth, a large dinette that folds down into a twin sized bed as well. There is a small galley kitchen with microwave, 2 burner stovetops, a refrigerator/freezer, and plenty of storage. The head or bathroom has a full-sized shower stall, toilet with vacuflush system and sink.

The deck is my absolute favorite! Two full sized sofas with storage underneath, a wet bar, and helm seating for two! The bow sun pad is a nice touch too!

So, here we are! The boat has received her new name and logo, is christened, and ready to go! I can’t wait to see what this season brings for us!
